Forward emails to Twist

You can forward your emails to a Twist thread or channel to keep all relevant information in one place. Here's how:

Forward an email to a thread

  1. Open the thread.
  2. At the top right, click on the three dots icon.
  3. Select Get email to thread.
  4. An email address will appear. Click Copy to save it to your clipboard.
  5. Now, you can forward any email to this address to post the content to the Twist thread. To do this, go to your email inbox, select the email you want to forward to Twist, then paste the copied email address into the "to" section, and press send.
  6. The email content will show up in your thread within a few minutes.

  2. Next to the channel name, click the three dots icon.
  3. Select Get email to channel.
  4. An email address will appear. Click Copy to save it to your clipboard.
  5. Now, you can forward any email to this address to post the content to the Twist channel. To do this, go to your email inbox, select the email you want to forward to Twist, then paste the copied email address into the "to" section, and press send.
  6. The email content will show up in your channel as a new thread within a few minutes.

FAQ

Q: Can anybody use the forwarding email address to post a comment to the thread? What if someone sends an email from an account that is not part of my team?

A: Yes, anyone can use the forwarding email address to post to a thread in Twist.

However, if you were the one who first got the link by clicking Get email to thread, every comment posted using this email address will have you as the author. So if you shared the email address with a friend and they used it to post a comment, the comment will show you as the author.

Plus, if anyone outside of your Twist team uses the email address, they won't be able to view the content. It will only be available to team members that are part of the channel.

Q: Is it possible to reply to or communicate with external users using email forwarding? Is there two-way email integration or is it just one-way?

A: Our email integration is one-way only. You can post threads and comments via email, but it's not possible to reply to emails from within Twist.

If you want to communicate with an external user from Twist, the best way is to invite them as a guest.
