The new and updated Twist

Say hello to a new and improved Twist!

This year we set out to rethink Twist from the ground up. After a team-wide effort, the new Twist has finally launched!

Why did we decide to redesign Twist?

When we first created Twist, we were focused on creating a tool that not only works for us here at Doist, but which also represents the Doist spirit of transparency, collaboration, and asynchronous work.

Since then Twist has become a must-have messaging tool not only for us, but for many other teams as well. We’ve learned a lot over the years, both from our own workflows and from the feedback we’ve received from our wonderful users, and we’re putting all those lessons into practice.

This reimagined Twist is specifically designed to support asynchronous communication first — meaning you can more easily collaborate with teammates on your time instead of real-time.

So what’s different?

All-new Twist comes with a few big changes:

Faster, more focused navigation

Quickly get to where you're going now that on desktop, all your navigation is in a unified sidebar with search in the left corner. On iOS and Android, we added a new bottom bar with quicker access to your inbox, channels, and messages.

Finally clear your inbox ✔️

Reach the zen of Inbox Zero by marking threads done as you process them!

FAQ

What’s the difference between marking a thread as read or as done?

Marking a thread as done will move it from the Active view in your Inbox to your Done view. Whether a thread has been read or not does not impact if it’s in the Active view or in the Done view.

How do I reach Inbox Zero?

Once you’ve marked all threads as done, you should have no threads in the Active view in your inbox. This is what is called reaching Inbox Zero!

Please note that having read a thread is not the same as it being marked as done. Read threads will still appear in your Active view until you mark them as done.
